And away we go!
And away we go! It’s 8:00am as 23 excited Bryant students and faculty gather in the Barrington hall with our luggage. Professor Gomez was kind enough to surprise us with Dunkin’ Donuts, is there any better way to start the trip? I think not.
While waiting for the bus, we packed gifts for the children at the orphanage into our suitcases. We rolled the luggage to the bus and loaded them in the bottom storage. After storing our luggage everyone quickly seated. Before departing, of course the professors ensured that we had our passport as we waved them in the air. Some chose to sleep, listen to music, or talk about how anxious and excited they were. This gave us a chance to begin bonding as a group as we talked about how eager we were to engage with different cultures, learn about history, attempt to speak the language, and help the less fortunate.

Pulling up to the airport our anxiousness for the flight was at an all time high. We gathered our luggage and met up with the remaining 9 students who were dropped off by family. Everyone began testing the weights of their suitcases in panic before checking their bags. Many were on the cusp of reaching 50 pounds.

We began checking in and, just as we were about to go through security, one student realized there was a mix up with their boarding pass. The airline helpers quickly fixed the problem and we informed our travel guide about the issue to ensure she was okay for the rest of the trip. We made it through security and settled by Gate B9 to wait for our flight.
